3D Printing

One of the new and exciting areas of model rocketry is the area of 3D printing. 3D printing has opened up a whole world of innovation. You can design and print your own nose cones, adapters, fin cans and more.

We will be using this area to post some of our designs as well as links to the designs of others that we believe you might find useful.

Stop back and look at this section for more information and updates in the future.

Getting Started

Are you new to 3D printing? Wondering what it involves, or the types of things you can do with a 3D printer. If so, we have a series of posts that you will probably find helpful. It discusses what is 3D printing, software you need, tools, materials, the filaments you use, and some ideas on what you can make with your printer.

Our 3D Designs

We have several 3D model rocket designs that are available for downloading free of charge. All of these designs have been released under the Creative Commons license. Our current designs include several different model rocket stands, an accessory kit for the Orbital Transport, and the Dyna-Soar on Titan II booster (see below). You can find these in the following repositories:

Building the Dyna-Soar

The Dyna-Soar is a concept rocket from the 1960s. Unfortunately the real Dyna-Soar  never actually flew. However, our version makes use of several sources to 3D print the Dyna-Soar nose, as well as the out of production Estes Titan kit.
